The year has barely started, and it's already time for a new celebration: we are reaching our 2000th post!

To celebrate it, we keep the tradition we started when celebrating the 1000th post: posting a song with, now, "two thousand" in its title. "Disco 2000" is a song from the 1990s by the British group Pulp. It's a great alternative indie pop-rock track, which is perfect to celebrate this occasion!

Thorsteinn Einarsson was born in Iceland, but is reaching success in Austria, where his father moved to when he was still young (even though he himself has been coming-and-going all the time). His single "Leya" is very beautiful, and is starting to hit the charts in Austria. It's surely worth a listening!

Jenni Vartiainen gets to our blog once more! Her latest single was out before Christmas, and we are still in love with it. "Minä sinua vaan" is a very soft pop ballad, which shows the versatility that Jenni has when it comes to explore her talent.

France | Shy'm - "L'effet de serre"

After striking us with the great "La malice" last year, the French singer Shy'm is back with another very cool single. It's called "L'effet de serre", and it's a very sexy and enticing pop track. Its video clip only helps reinforcing the sensual atmosphere of the song.

United Kingdom | Ben Haenow - "Something I need"

Born in 1985 in Croydon, Ben Haenow became the 11th winner of British version of The X Factor in 2014. His debut single is "Something I need", a cover of OneRepublic's hit made into an anthemic pop ballad.

Sounds European! looked back on the songs which were published here during this period – more than 1200 – and selected the 50 best ones (in the editors' opinions). Until December 31st, this top 50 will remember some of the coolest artists and tracks which were presented during the year.

When we first listened to "Sunshine", by Young Kato, we were extremely impressed with the perfect mix of unique instrumentals and voice work, wrapped in a very catchy and effective melody. Months have passed, and the admiration remains the same. We still love it to bits: it is, without a doubt, Sounds European!'s song of the year.
