Some National Finals for the Eurovision Song Contest have already started. Such is the case of Latvia's Supernova, which presented its participants earlier this month. One of them is Ogre-born Toms Kalderauskis, who will compete for a ticket to Kiev with "We won't back down". The song is a fantastic pop-rock single with an anthemic chorus that you won't be able to get out of your head!

Yasmin Sidibe is a 19-year-old singer from Frankfurt, who rose to prominence after taking part of the latest season of The Voice of Germany. No one can have Beyoncé, Lauryn Hill and Whitney Houston as idols without having to deliver outstanding music. And Yasmin does! "River" is an excellent single!

It's time to remeet Groningen-based indie band Orange Skyline. We've just listened to their single "Sound & fury", and we can surely recommend it. It has a very strong melody, which gets even better during the chorus. The vocal work is perfect for the genre, taking the song to another level.

United Kingdom | Ed Sheeran - "Castle on the hill"

After around a year away from music, British singer Ed Sheeran started 2017 by popping up not one, but two fantastic singles. One of them is "Shape of you", but it's "Castle on the hill" the one that really captivated us. The song is a very interesting mix between the melancholic sound that characterizes Ed's work and the fine British pop-rock that everybody loves.

After working with Antonio Orozco and releasing a song which really fits his genre, an energetic pop-rock, they have now gathered with Pablo Alborán and gone much more his way. "Sólo luz" is a delicate pop with beautiful instrumentation and outstanding vocal performances.

France | Alma - "Requiem"

French singer Alma is back to Sounds European! to dazzle us with her second single. "Requiem" has a perfect balance between classic, retro French sounds and the current beats of pop music. It is really a treat! The song was chosen to represent France at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev, Ukraine. The version to be presented in the contest experimented some changes (and you can check by clicking here).
