Die Draufgänger are an Austrian band from the Südoststeiermark district in Styria, whose specialty is making folk and schlager covers for hits from the region. They've had one of the biggest hits of the year, with their rendition of Alle Achtung's "Marie". It's a true banger!
Dutch band Within Temptation has just dropped a new single. It is called "The purge", a powerful, goth-inspired rock with an intense melody that, according to lead singer Sharon den Adel, "revolves around self-reflection and a search for redemption. No one gets through life without scars or without inflicting them on others and there will always be moments in your life you start questioning your choices. You start realising you've made mistakes, causing harm to not only others but also to yourself. To confess, to acknowledge and to accept these mistakes, can be a very painful process – however, unescapable when the burden becomes too heavy".
Waiting for Smith is the project of British singer and songwriter Harry Lloyd. His most recent single is entitled "Lost in your light", and it boasts a seductive guitar riff that fits perfectly with the singer's suave voice.
About the single, Harry says: "This last year I've really been trying to listen properly. As so often we feel the need to fill in our own ideas of what people say to us, making it into a story that suits our worldview, or our image of the person. When you get truly lost in someone's presence and the light in his or her eyes it's how I imagine dying to be – you can find a true peace there".
