Belgium | Loïc Nottet - "Rhythm inside"

EUROVISION

From May 12th to May 18th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is going to take place in Vienna – with semifinals on May 19th and 21st and the final on the 23rd.

Born in Courcelles in 1996, Loïc Nottet finished second in the third season of the Belgian version of The Voice. He was chosen to represent his home country in Viena with "Rhythm inside", a dark and intense indie pop song which quite reminds the successful singles by New Zealand's star Lorde.

Malta | Amber - "Warrior"

From May 12th to May 18th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is going to take place in Vienna – with semifinals on May 19th and 21st and the final on the 23rd.

Amber Bondin is a Maltese singer who was born in Kalkara in 1991. In 2012, she was on Eurovision, in Baku, as a backing vocalist to Kurt Calleja. Now, she will be back to the festival, but as the lead artist. After five consecutive years reaching the final of her country's National Final, she has finally won it this year, with "Warrior". This song is a powerful symphonic midtempo which displays the best of Amber's voice.

Lithuania | Monika Linkytė feat. Vaidas Baumila - "This time"

From May 12th to May 18th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is going to take place in Vienna – with semifinals on May 19th and 21st and the final on the 23rd.

Monika Linkytė and Vaidas Baumila were one of the competitors of Eurovizijos, the Lithuanian national selection. They both arrived to the final of the contest. Them both as well as the third finalist sang the previously selected "This time" separatedly, but Monika and Vaidas also gathered forces in a duet that conquered the hearts in Lithuania. The song is an uptempo country pop song which talks about love in a very entertaining way.

United Kingdom | Ann Sophie - "Black smoke"

From May 12th to May 18th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is going to take place in Vienna – with semifinals on May 19th and 21st and the final on the 23rd.

Ann Sophie was born in London in 1990 to German parents. At a very young age her family went back to Germany, where she developed her whole career. This year, she took part of Unser Song für Österreich, and she won after some controversy (which we explained when we showed you the second place of the selection). "Black smoke" will be the German representative: an intense set of lyrics with an equally intense chorus that stole our hearts!

Czech Republic | Marta Jandová feat. Václav Noid Bárta - "Hope never dies"

From May 12th to May 18th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is going to take place in Vienna – with semifinals on May 19th and 21st and the final on the 23rd.

Marta Jandová and Václav Noid Bárta are two Czech artists with a lot in common. They were both born in the country's capital city, Prague, and have their music history related to rock and metal bands. Now, one more thing unites them, since they will represent their country on this year's Eurovision together. Their single "Hope never days" is a very interesting rock ballad.

Ireland | Molly Sterling - "Playing with numbers"

From May 12th to May 18th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is going to take place in Vienna – with semifinals on May 19th and 21st and the final on the 23rd.

Born in Puckane, County Tipperary, Molly Sterling is one of the youngest singers of this year's Eurovision. She won the Irish National Final, Eurosong, with "Playing with numbers", a very sweet and mellow ballad which totally fits in the mood of contemporary ballads being released currently, such as the ones by Birdy or Sam Smith.

North Macedonia | Daniel Kajmakoski - "Autumn leaves"

From May 12th to May 18th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is going to take place in Vienna – with semifinals on May 19th and 21st and the final on the 23rd.

Macedonian singer Daniel Kajmakoski, who has appeared on SE! twice before, is back to our site. This time, with his Eurovision Song Contest entry. After winning Skopje Festival with "Lisja esenski", he will go to Austria with its version in English, "Autumn leaves". It's a beautiful track, with a melody which helps building a unique mood.

Sweden | Måns Zelmerlöw - "Heroes"

From May 12th to May 18th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is going to take place in Vienna – with semifinals on May 19th and 21st and the final on the 23rd.

Since 2007, when "Cara mia" wasn't selected to represent Sweden in Helsinki – and even more after "Hope & glory" lost in 2009 –, many Eurovision fans were dreaming about the day Måns Zelmerlöw would finally go to the festival. And the day has come: he will be in Vienna with "Heroes". And the fans' dream couldn't have gone better: his entry is excellent, and uses the best of his talent. It's our favorite of this year's edition, making it also our song of the week.

Spain | Edurne - "Amanecer"

From May 12th to May 18th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is going to take place in Vienna – with semifinals on May 19th and 21st and the final on the 23rd.

Edurne is a multifacetic artist who was born in Madrid in 1985. She is a quite popular name within the Spanish scene, having released five albums up to date. She took part in several reality shows, appearing for the first time in Operación Triunfo in 2005 and arriving to the finals of the Spanish versions of Dancing With The Stars and Your Face Sounds Familiar (which she eventually won). The Spanish song in Eurovision will be "Amanecer", an adventurous pop ballad which grows into an epic chorus.

Slovenia | Maraaya - "Here for you"

From May 12th to May 18th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is going to take place in Vienna – with semifinals on May 19th and 21st and the final on the 23rd.

If there is one name Sounds European!'s readers should recognize on the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, it is the Slovene duo Maraaya. They had the second best song of 2014, on our top 50 of the year, and they also gave us an amazing interview. Now, they'll represent Slovenia on the festival with "Here for you". It's a very classy and catchy song. Marjetka's voice is amazing in it. Slovenia has surely got some chances of breaking the country's best result in the contest.
