MTV EUROPE MUSIC AWARDS

Tonight, we are having this year's edition of the MTV Europe Music Awards. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, there isn't a specific venue or host city for the ceremony. Instead, the performances were recorded in various locations across the world.

As it's a tradition, Sounds European! takes the chance to review the year, and remember all the nominees who have been presented on our site throughout the past year. If you are a frequent reader of ours, it's certain that you know most of the names!

This first part of our special series is listing the artists who are competing in the main categories. The two next parts will then focus on the regional nominations.

Norway | Synne Vo - "Gonna be alright"

Synne Vo is a young Norwegian singer and songwriter from Lesja. She has just released "Gonna be alright", song which is part of the soundtrack for the movie "Børning 3". It's a great song, with smooth verses that explore Synne's beautiful voice in a great manner, and a chorus that is electric and very strong.

Czech Republic | Support Lesbiens - "White lines"

Czech band Support Lesbiens have a new single for us! "White lines" is a bouncy pop-rock with contagious beats and a melody that fits this Halloween season just perfectly!

Poland | Cleo - "W telefonie"

Sounds European! remeets Polish star Cleo. She has just released "W telefonie". It's a groovy mid-tempo pop song, with a smooth melody which allows Cleo to own it all with an amazing vocal performance.

Spain | Carlos Right - "Borrándote"

Spanish singer Carlos Right has just released an amazing new single. We are talking about "Borrándote". It's a passionate guitar-led mid-tempo ballad with an infatuating melody and a beautiful vocal performance.

Denmark | Anton Walter - "Melodier"

Anton Walter is a young Danish singer and songwriter from Amager. Meet him with his new release, titled "Melodier". It's a fresh pop song with a memorable chorus.

Romania | Elena - "Vulnerabili"

BRAND NEW

Romanian pop goddess Elena Gheorghe is back with new music! In "Vulnerabili", she shies away from ethnic tunes to deliver an intimate, contemporary ballad. The song captures this (indeed) vulnerable moment we are all going through.
