Spain | Ruth Lorenzo - "Dancing in the rain"

EUROVISION

From May 3rd to May 9th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is taking place in Copenhagen – with semifinals on May 6th and 8th and the final on the 10th.

Spain is showing, year after year, they are learning what kind of music works on Eurovision. This year, they've given a more daring step, which is trying an entry sung mostly in English. "Dancing in the rain" is a huge display of Ruth Lorenzo's vocal quality. Amazing song!

United Kingdom | Molly - "Children of the universe"

From May 3rd to May 9th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is taking place in Copenhagen – with semifinals on May 6th and 8th and the final on the 10th.

There was a lot of fuss around the name that would represent the United Kingdom. After two years with old glories of the country, the BBC came out with a developing artist: Molly Smitten-Downes. And they couldn't be more accurate this time. Her entry "Children of the universe" is that song that can easily sneak into any radio station and that truly represents the contemporaneous pop scene. No wonder she's one of the favourites to win!

Germany | Elaiza - "Is it right"

From May 3rd to May 9th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is taking place in Copenhagen – with semifinals on May 6th and 8th and the final on the 10th.

For this year's Eurovision, Germany decided to make a National Final with several well-known names included. Well, surprise surprise, the winners were Elaiza, a group formed very recently and which was given a wildcard to participate in the show. Their song in Copenhagen will be "Is it right", a very unique mixture of pop, folk and indie.

France | Twin Twin - "Moustache"

From May 3rd to May 9th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is taking place in Copenhagen – with semifinals on May 6th and 8th and the final on the 10th.

Twin Twin is a French music group from Paris. It was formed in 2009 by twins Lorent and François Ardouvin, and Patrick Biyik. They were the winners of a national selection (which included two other artists) with "Moustache", a very rhythmic song that will surely get everybody dancing!

Denmark | Basim - "Cliche love song"

EUROVISION

From May 3rd to May 9th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is taking place in Copenhagen – with semifinals on May 6th and 8th and the final on the 10th.

Basim was born in 1992 in Copenhagen. He took part in the Danish version of The X Factor 2008, and released some albums and singles afterwards. This year, he won the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, which earned him the honor to be representing the host country at the Eurovision Song Contest. He will pour some energy in the stage with the very catchy "Cliche love song"!

Slovenia | Tinkara Kovač - "Round and round"

From May 3rd to May 9th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is taking place in Copenhagen – with semifinals on May 6th and 8th and the final on the 10th.

Tinkara Kovač is a very important name of Slovene music. She was born in Koper, one of the most beautiful cities of Slovenia, in 1978. Her song for this year's Eurovision, "Round and round", is one of the best bets RTVSLO has made in the recent years. It is a very competent entry, and one of the favorite ones of the SE! editors.

Switzerland | Sebalter - "Hunter of stars"

Born Sebastiano Paù-Lessi in Ticino, Switzerland, Sebalter won Die Große Entscheidungsshow, the Swiss selection for Eurovision. His song is "Hunter of stars", a folk-pop song which features one of the most addictive elements of this year: the whistling!

Norway | Carl Espen - "Silent storm"

EUROVISION

From May 3rd to May 9th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is taking place in Copenhagen – with semifinals on May 6th and 8th and the final on the 10th.

Born in 1982 in Bergen, Carl Espen was the big winner of the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix. His deep, intense and heartbroken "Silent storm" captivated the ears of the voters, who made him win the competition with a wide margin over the second placed.

North Macedonia | Tijana Dapčević - "To the sky"

From May 3rd to May 9th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is taking place in Copenhagen – with semifinals on May 6th and 8th and the final on the 10th.

Tijana Dapčević is not a new name to Sounds European!. She was here before, in January, with "Suze od pepela". She'll represent her country, North Macedonia, on the 2014 Eurovision with "To the sky". It is, for sure, one of the best songs of this year's edition. The rhythm is contagious, the vocals are great, and the chorus is as catchy as it gets. Where do we go now? To the sky!

Finland | Softengine - "Something better"

EUROVISION

From May 3rd to May 9th, Sounds European! will review the best entries of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which is taking place in Copenhagen – with semifinals on May 6th and 8th and the final on the 10th.

Softengine is a band from Seinäjoki, in Finland. They were chosen to the Finnish representatives on the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, following the country's recent history of investing in rock tracks. "Something better" is as energetic as a rock song needs to be for ESC, without being too heavy for the fans' taste. It has the potential to work very well.
